It's Cold Outside

Well, it snowed, again, on my day off. Not that i can't run or bike in the snow, but i prefer not to. especially on the road where i run. so, once again today, i did stairs in the house with my weight vest on. today i did increase the workout to 35 minutes. i am gradually building up and hopefully will be able to start really running before too long, when the weather gets better. i will be out of town this weekend, but maybe the hotel will have somewhere to work-out a little.

still haven't decided what i am going to do this fall. i guess i will apply to montana since you can't just buy preference points, there is a 54% chance i will get drawn. i think i will buy another bonus point to wyoming, and maybe utah. i think i will apply to colorado and idaho too. applications are due pretty soon in most states. i am trying to build up bonus points so that in a few (10) years i will be able to pick where i want to go and when and have enough bonus points in each state to be able to put in for good areas and get drawn and just alternate a different state yearly (maybe i will have enough money by then to go to 2-3 states per year).

thought of the day: the Old Testament talks about a lot of stuff that is hard to follow. (yeah, that's it, it's just a thought).

Slowly

i am slowly getting back into working out. 2 days ago i did push-ups, set-ups, leg lifts, and triceps lifts during commercials, about 75 of each. yesterday i took a little break and today i did a little circuit training (upper body) on my weight bench that i finally moved to the clinic. my calves are still sore from the stairs on monday, i think i will do a few more tonight.

i really wish the cold weather would go away so i would be a little more motivated to start running again.

i am still having a hard time cutting down on my caloric intake. i just love to eat. i have to get some weight off before turkey season. not only so i can chase the turkeys harder but also so i can be in decent shape as soon as turkey season is over. that will be when i really start hitting the road.

thought of the day: are we getting closer to death every day or are we experiencing more life every day. i think the way you look at this question gives you the answer and is related to the amount of joy you have in your life. this is just a personal thought and no actual scientific data went in to drawing that conclusion. have a great day and live tomorrow better than today.

I'm Baaack

After several months (about 5) of not exercising/blogging very much I am on my way back. Of course duck season just ended and turkey season doesn't start for 2 months, so I get a little time to try and get back into some shape for turkey season. however, the last week has not been a good one to start getting back on track. during the last week it has not been out of the 30's much, last monday there was quite a bit of snow on the ground, it also rained a day or two this past week, and in the last 2 hours we have gotten 2 more inches of snow. i have a hard time getting motivated when it is cold and wet.

however, despite the cold and wetness i have found a place to exercise. in my house. funny how i used to do my steps all the time before i started running and now it seems too simple, not enough of a challenge. i figured, though, that it was better to do something than nothing. so, i went up and down my steps here at the house for roughly 25 minutes with my 15lb vest on and jumped in place for roughly another 5 minutes. not too strenuous but it was a start. i also did some stretching, hopefully that will help the pain i have been having in my back (losing 20lbs would probably help more).

thanks to everyone who has been greatly anticipating my blogs for this year, i hope you will continue to read and comment.

thought of the day: "don't you ever wish you were someone else, you were meant to be the way you are exactly, don't you ever say, you don't like the way you are, when you learn to love yourself, you're better off by far...i think that you could be, whatever you want to be, if you could realize all the dreams you have inside." this is a quote from a song by Joey Mc Intyre (not sure if he wrote it or not). for those of you who know who Joey Mc Intyre is, Ii probably lose credibility, however, i think it is a great quote and a great song. i think we all have to realize we are who we are and we have to focus on the talents God has given us. However, there is another song that ends "make that change." (Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson). so i think we need to change the negative, human downsides to ourselves (selfishness, envy, etc.) but our physical parts we should, well , nevermind, this is way too complicated for me to explain all of this without a face to face conversation. just trust in The Lord and let Him lead you and you will be fine.
